Project Description

Birkwood’s Business Development Advisor visited Ashford Cladding Systems Ltd with a view to delivery of National Vocational Qualifications in Plant Operations at Level 2 for the use Telehandlers which are often used by Roofing Companies for warehousing work and loading roofs. Three operatives achieved this qualification, and as a result of this additional qualification they are now in a position to take on more responsibility for moving and storing resources when required.

Through the process of Training Needs Analysis, Birkwood identified that the business also required a number of NVQs in Roof Sheeting and Cladding. On submission of the TNA to HCUK this was highlighted to the project team.

The HCUK team worked with their network of training providers to locate a suitable provider for the roofing qualifications and as a result, Ashford Cladding Systems Ltd also benefitted from eight of their 0operatives working towards Level 2 qualifications in Roof Sheeting and Cladding

The TNA processes allowed the company an opportunity to consider skills within the business and as a result, they have been assisted to apply for additional funding from CITB to work towards further courses which are not available through SSW funding including Level 6 Site Management

Martin Hannan, responsible for training across the business says.

“The whole process of training has been made easier through the availability of funding and the flexibility of the training providers”
